The first festive midweek card provided some big results at both ends of the Scottish Premiership but which players impressed?

Ross County made it back-to-back league wins as they beat Motherwell 3-0 and dominate the team of the week – with consecutive victories moving Derek Adams’ side into eighth spot.

Elsewhere, leaders Celtic beat Hibernian while Rangers saw off Hearts at Tynecastle Park and both of the Old Firm have players in the XI.

There were late wins for Kilmarnock at Aberdeen and St Johnstone over St Mirren too as both clubs make up the team.

Ross County dominate the WhoScored.com Scottish Premiership team of the week following their 3-0 win over Motherwell, with centre-back Jack Baldwin the standout performer for the Staggies. Baldwin provided the assist for Yan Dhanda’s first and Ross County’s second on Tuesday night and made eight clearances, one of which was off the line, in a clean-sheet attaining display.

4. Matt O’Riley (Celtic) – 8.32 rating

O’Riley was on target in Celtic’s victory over Hibernian

The first of three Celtic players to make the top five rankings, Matt O’Riley bagged his eighth league goal of the campaign as the Bhoys smashed Hibs 4-1 on home turf. The midfielder got the better of David Marshall with one of two shots, while five tackles and three successful dribbles saw him return a WhoScored.com rating of 8.32.

3. Liam Gordon (St. Johnstone) – 8.46 rating

Gordon impressed as St Johnstone beat St Mirren with a 96th-minute winner

The star performer from St. Johnstone’s narrow win over St Mirren was centre-back Liam Gordon, who earned a WhoScored.com rating of 8.46. Gordon was solid at the back for the Saints as he won nine aerial duels and chipped in eight clearances, three interceptions and two tackles to cap a fine outing.

2. Hyeon-Gyu Oh (Celtic) – 8.79 rating

Back to Celtic Park now as Hyeon-Gyu Oh features on the frontline having shone against Hibs, netting goals number four and five from the campaign with two of five shots. The 22-year-old also made one key pass and one tackle to yield a WhoScored.com rating of 8.79.

Boasting a WhoScored.com rating of 9.43, Celtic’s Luis Palma is the Scottish Premiership player of the week. Palma was directly involved in two of Celtic’s four goals in midweek, following up his first-half assist for Matt O’Riley with a second-half penalty, those coming from respective returns of three key passes and five shots. With an additional four tackles, Palma fully deserved his player of the match accolade.
