Swansea vs Watford, Tuesday 7.45pm – Live on Sky Sports Football Red Button
Swansea’s winning run came to an end at the weekend, but they gave a great account of themselves against a ridiculously good Leicester side.
Watford also got their first win in a long while, but they were at home against Sheffield Wednesday, and they really did sneak it. I wouldn’t read too much into either result from Saturday, and I’ll go home win here.
Prediction: 2-1 (Sky Bet odds)
Leicester vs Sunderland, Tuesday 8pm – Live on Sky Sports Football
I don’t think I’ve ever said this in October before, but it really is probably just a case of when, not if, Leicester get promoted. Even an injury crisis may not hurt them too much, because they just have so much quality throughout their squad.
Sunderland have lost two in a row, and this is not where they would want to go to try and bounce back. Leicester are brilliant, and relentless, and an attacking away side should play into their hands. Foxes win.
Prediction: 3-1 (Sky Bet odds)
Birmingham vs Hull City, Wednesday 7.45pm – Live on Sky Sports Football Red Button
Heading to a Middlesbrough side in such good form wasn’t the ideal start for Wayne Rooney at Birmingham, especially when there is so much pressure after such a good start to the season.
Here he faces his old Derby County assistant in Liam Rosenior. He’ll know all about Rooney, but Hull are in a bit of a slump at the minute, without a win in four. I’ll back Birmingham here, just about.
Prediction: 1-0 (Sky Bet odds)
Plymouth vs Sheffield Wednesday, Wednesday 7.45pm – Live on Sky Sports Football Red Button
Plymouth have slipped down the table to just above the relegation zone. This season has turned into more of a struggle than they may have been expecting, picking up just two points from four games since they hammered Norwich.
Sheffield Wednesday, under new boss Danny Rohl, were beaten late and narrowly at Watford on Saturday. This is also a challenging trip, and I think it could be another fruitless one for the Owls.
Prediction: 2-0 (Sky Bet odds)
Preston vs Southampton, Wednesday 8pm – Live on Sky Sports Arena
It is no wins in five now for Preston. They are still right up there in the top six, but that could slip away quickly unless they learn how to win again.
That is something Southampton have done. The aberration against Rotherham aside, it is 10 points from 12. And they need to keep going to close the gap on the top two. I think they’ll just about nick this one.
Prediction: 0-1 (Sky Bet odds)
Stoke City vs Leeds, Wednesday 8pm – Live on Sky Sports Football
That was a huge result for Alex Neil on Saturday. To take a win against his old Sunderland side was badly needed and should give them some confidence.
But they run into a Leeds side in form, and who showed their resilience against Norwich on Saturday, battling back from two down to win 3-2. I think this is another three Leeds points, and I don’t think it will be as tough for them as it was at Carrow Road.
Prediction: 0-2 (Sky Bet odds)
